UNCG Band-O-Rama! Livestream

the5foot4euphoniumist:

Okay, so, tonight at 7:30 all three of UNCG’s great bands (including the University Band, which I am a part of) will be playing a concert at Aycock auditorium, and if you can’t make it, this link will lead you to a livestream of the event. All three bands have really great programs and it should be a really good concert, so I highly recommend watching!

Hey, guys, I’m gonna be playing bass trombone on this concert, but I’m right next to the euphoniums, so you should watch!

Regarding a question that an anon asked: Anyone can play without a harness, I think. I would mostly wait until high school to start standing and playing, but by then, you should just kind of experiment with holding it and see what feels comfortable. If you happen to have a private teacher, they can really help you with where to place your left hand. Your band director should also be able to give some input. Mostly, I end up wrapping my left hand around the 3rd valve tubing. Hope this helps!

Hi. Your posts are so true! A lot of people think I play the french horn... but I just explain it as a mini tuba. Anyway. I am trying to figure out how to stand and play. I bought a Neotech Tuba/Euphonium harness, but it was too big for my body and my horn, probably. I am 5'4" and a female. So I returned the harness, and bought a Neotech brass sling. Those little connector loops it came with didn't fit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m assuming you’re not on a marching horn but instead a concert horn? Standing and playing with that isn’t really my expertise, so… if anyone else has suggestions, please do send them in.
